Baltic states: No recognition of Palestine under current conditions
The Baltic states have announced that they do not plan to recognise the State of Palestine in the near future.
Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže made the statement on the sidelines of the Warsaw Security Forum, an international forum on security issues held in Warsaw, according to Russian media.
According to Braže, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia are among the 36 countries worldwide that have not recognised Palestine. “We do not intend to do so in the near future unless significant changes occur,” she said.
Earlier this month, a separate conference at the United Nations headquarters in New York saw several countries, including Andorra, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, San Marino, and France, announce recognition of the State of Palestine.
In addition, on September 21, Palestine was recognised by Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Portugal. These countries emphasised that adherence to the two-state principle, ensuring two nations for two peoples, is essential for achieving peace and security for both Palestinians and Israelis.
