Bavarian leader suspects Russian involvement in Munich drone incidents
Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder has suggested that Russia could be behind the recent drone incidents at Munich Airport.
While noting that he could not confirm the claim with certainty, Söder said he believes the appearance of drones near the airport “is somehow connected to Russia,” Caliber.Az reports via German media.
“This is also a form of hybrid warfare—meant to make us nervous and instill fear. That’s why we must not show weakness or be afraid,” he said, calling for a “reasonable, calm, but decisive” response.
Munich Airport temporarily suspended operations on the nights of October 3 and 4 after unidentified drones were spotted over the airfield, leading to the cancellation of dozens of scheduled flights.
Following the incidents, police installed a laser and radar system at the northern edge of the runway to measure the distance to any detected drones.
