Belarus launches large-scale military inspection to test readiness
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko received a report from State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich on the ongoing large-scale inspection of the Armed Forces’ combat readiness, BelTA reports.
President Lukashenko was briefed on the completion of the second stage of the inspection, which evaluated the combat readiness of most military units across nearly all branches of the Armed Forces, including special operations forces. Control exercises were conducted at training grounds with a focus on firearms proficiency and physical training, priorities the president had previously emphasized.
During the inspection, units of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs acted as a simulated enemy. Lukashenko received a preliminary assessment of how personnel from the Armed Forces and Internal Troops performed and how professionally they accomplished their assigned tasks.
The president instructed officials to thoroughly analyze shortcomings revealed during the inspection to identify weaknesses and improve training for all personnel, including officers.
“The key outcome of the inspection is to obtain a realistic picture of the Armed Forces’ capability and readiness to act in accordance with their intended purpose,” Lukashenko said, stressing that “emphasis is placed on surprise and maximum objectivity in assessing the military units.”
The inspection is ongoing, with additional military units expected to be tested in order to assess the level of training across all branches and types of the Armed Forces. The exercises aim to provide an accurate measure of Belarus’ military preparedness amid regional security concerns.
