Belgium, Spain each pledge €1 billion in military aid to Ukraine for 2026
Belgium and Spain have each pledged €1 billion in military assistance to Ukraine in 2026, according to Ukrainian officials following high-level defence talks ahead of a Ramstein-format meeting.
Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said on social media that he held discussions with Belgian Defence Minister Theo Francken and Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles, during which both countries confirmed their planned support packages for Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports.
He said Belgium would allocate €1 billion in defence aid this year and also confirmed its intention to transfer additional F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, along with providing spare parts for existing aircraft.
Fedorov also said Spain had committed €1 billion in military support for Ukraine in 2026. He noted that discussions with Madrid focused on strengthening cooperation between defence industries, particularly under the European SAFE mechanism.
According to him, Ukraine expressed readiness to provide a list of manufacturers that could enhance cooperation with Spanish defence companies.
He added that Ukraine had also offered Spain the opportunity to test its drones in combat conditions as part of broader defence cooperation efforts.
