Bild: German MEPs travel to Moscow for talks with officials

Members of the European Parliament from the German Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance party have travelled to Moscow for a series of meetings, according to a report by Bild.

The delegation includes MEPs Ruth Firmenich and Michael von der Schulenburg. During their visit to the Russian capital, they are expected to hold talks with representatives of the presidential administration, the State Duma, and members of civil society.

According to Bild, the visit is intended to build on contacts that began last year. The lawmakers said they aim to continue those engagements and to “send a signal against the lack of dialogue between the EU and Russia.”

The MEPs argued that the current trajectory of relations should shift away from further escalation and economic confrontation. In their view, there is a need to explore new formats for negotiations between Brussels and Moscow.
