Blasts rock Qatar’s Doha as Israeli media reports strike on Hamas leaders

On September 9, the Israeli military said it carried out a “precise strike” on senior Hamas leaders, following reports of explosions in Doha. Israeli army radio earlier said the attack targeted Hamas officials in Qatar.

Al Jazeera television, citing a Hamas source, reported it was aimed at members involved in Gaza ceasefire negotiations.

Reuters witnesses confirmed hearing several blasts in the Qatari capital, and smoke was seen rising over the Katara District, according to an eyewitness.

Israeli media, quoting a senior official, said the strike sought to hit top Hamas leaders, including Khalil al-Hayya, the group’s Gaza chief.

An Israeli official later confirmed the operation.
