Brotherly bonds: Azerbaijani, Turkish leaders map out cooperation goals
On January 8, 2025, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Türkiye and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan engaged in a phone conversation to discuss the enduring partnership between their nations and address key regional and global issues.
The leaders exchanged views on a range of topics, including the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, as well as pressing regional and global developments, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During the discussion, President Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to the principle of “One nation, two states,” emphasizing that cooperation between the two nations will continue to flourish across all spheres. He reiterated Türkiye’s strong support for Azerbaijan’s efforts to achieve lasting peace in the South Caucasus and assured that Türkiye will always stand by its brotherly nation.
President Aliyev, in response, highlighted the deep bonds of brotherhood, friendship, and strategic partnership that define Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations, also rooted in the principle of “One nation, two states.” He expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s consistent support and noted that the two countries have consistently stood together through challenges and triumphs alike.
The leaders also discussed the prospects for further strengthening their cooperation in 2025 and beyond. Both Presidents agreed on the importance of maintaining regular dialogue and close coordination to advance their shared goals and interests.
