Bulgarian PM rejects sanctions on Russia, says “era of crusades is over”
Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev has stated that his country will not support sanctions against Russia that negatively affect the country’s economy, noting “Era of Crusades Is Over”.
At a briefing, he said the war has expanded beyond the battlefield and now affects the economy, energy sector, sports, and culture, and warned against extending it further, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“This war has long gone beyond the trenches, spreading into the economy, energy, sports, culture, and now they want it to reach religion as well. I believe the era of crusades is over,” he stressed.
Radev further noted that the EU has already adopted 20 sanctions packages against Russia, arguing that they have not changed the course of the conflict.
He expressed doubt that the upcoming 21st package would have any significant impact.
He said he would raise the issue with European colleagues at the upcoming EU summit in Brussels.
