Bulgarian president calls for diplomatic solution to Ukraine conflict

Bulgaria should take part in efforts to find a diplomatic solution to the conflict in Ukraine, President Iliana Iotova said while commenting on an incident involving a Ukrainian drone that exploded on Bulgarian territory on August 8, according to TASS.

“No matter how advanced drones and counter-drone systems become, as long as the war continues, peace remains under threat, and every day we can see incidents like this. We have long said that this conflict has no military solution, and such incidents only confirm that we are right,” the president noted.

Iotova expressed confidence that the investigation into the incident would be as comprehensive as possible and that all information would be presented to the country’s citizens. She stressed that the state should support Bulgarian companies that manufacture drones and counter-drone systems.
