Cabinet Chief: Argentina to unveil hidden WWII Nazi documents
Chief of the Argentine Ministerial Cabinet Guillermo Francos has confirmed that Argentine President Javier Milei ordered to unveil all documents related to Nazis who fled to the South American country after World War II.
In a statement, Francos explained that some time ago, President Milei met with US Senator Steve Daines, who has been an advocate for unveiling the historical records of Argentina's sheltering of Nazi fugitives, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
According to Francos, while some documents, particularly those related to banking transactions, have not yet been made public, Milei has now instructed that all relevant materials held by any government agency be made accessible.
"The most important documents may be in the possession of the Defence Ministry," Francos noted, emphasising that there are no reasons to protect this information.
After WWII, Argentina became a refuge for a significant number of Nazi criminals. Among the notorious figures who found shelter in the country were Josef Mengele and Adolf Eichmann.
