Canada expands sanctions list targeting Russia
Canada has expanded its sanctions against Russia, adding seven individuals and 34 entities to its restricted list, according to the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The new measures include restrictions on major financial and market institutions such as the Moscow and St. Petersburg stock exchanges, as well as the National Commodity Exchange and the Eastern Exchange, Russian media reports.
Several financial institutions have also been targeted, including Absolut Bank and Zemsky Bank, alongside Rosatom Energy Projects JSC, the non-profit organisation Istina, and the insurance company Soglasie.
In addition, the sanctions list includes six companies based in Kyrgyzstan, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and New Zealand, as well as 120 vessels described as part of the so-called “shadow fleet.”
