Casualties rise in Lebanon despite ceasefire, health ministry says

01 May 2026 13:35

At least two people have been killed and 10 others injured in Israeli strikes on Nabatieh al-Fawqa district in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.

The ministry said the strike hit several other towns in the district, killing 14 people, Caliber.Az reports, citing CNN.

The attacks come despite an extended ceasefire in Lebanon, during which Israel and the Iran-backed group Hezbollah have continued to exchange fire.

Earlier, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said it carried out a series of airstrikes in southern Lebanon over the past 24 hours, targeting what it described as infrastructure linked to Hezbollah.

According to the military, more than 40 sites were struck and dismantled across multiple locations.

The targets reportedly included command centres, military structures, and other facilities that the IDF said were being used to plan and carry out attacks against Israeli forces and the state of Israel.
