China blames US, Israel for disruptions in Strait of Hormuz
China has held the United States and Israel responsible for recent disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, citing their “unlawful military actions” against Iran as the root cause.
Speaking at a briefing, Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told reporters that only a cessation of hostilities, combined with peace and stability in the Persian Gulf region, could ensure the safe and unobstructed passage of vessels along this critical international maritime route, TASS reports.
“The root cause of disruptions to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is the illegal military actions of the United States and Israel directed against Iran,” Mao said.
She also called on all parties involved in the conflict to work together to reduce regional tensions and mitigate the impact of instability on the global economy and energy security.
