China calls for unrestricted shipping through Strait of Hormuz
Chinese foreign ministry has called for free and unobstructed navigation in the Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions and reports of potential restrictive measures by the United States.
The spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the Strait of Hormuz is a key international trade route for energy resources and goods, and that its stability serves the interests of the entire global community, Caliber.Az reports, citing French media.
He stressed that navigation through the strait must remain “unimpeded,” as it directly affects global trade and energy security.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that a US blockade of Iranian ports would begin on April 13 at 10:00 ET.
US Central Command says the blockade will "not impede" ships sailing through the Strait of Hormuz to or from other countries - despite this, oil prices jump above $100 a barrel.
