China coast guard says it expelled Japanese fishing boat
China Coast Guard has said it took “necessary measures” to warn and expel a Japanese fishing vessel that entered waters it claims around Diaoyu Dao.
According to spokesperson Jiang Lue, the fishing boat Shishi entered what China considers its territorial waters on May 26, Caliber.Az reports via Chinese media.
“Diaoyu Dao and its affiliated islands are China’s inherent territory,” Jiang reiterated, adding that Coast Guard operations were carried out “in accordance with the law.”
“We urge the Japanese side to immediately stop all rights-violation and provocative acts in relevant waters,” the spokesperson stressed.
Jiang also said the China Coast Guard will continue conducting “rights protection and law enforcement operations” in the waters surrounding Diaoyu Dao, and will “resolutely safeguard China’s sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.”
