The convicted individual, identified by his surname Lu, was born in 1964 and was a resident of Linyang City, located in Fujian Province, eastern China, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
In 2020, Lu partnered with a group of criminals with the intention of distributing illegal narcotics. During the operation, he successfully manufactured around 200 kg of methamphetamine and sold 3 kg of the drug. The Supreme People's Court upheld the death penalty for Lu, citing his involvement in both the manufacturing and distribution of illicit substances. In addition, all of his personal assets have been confiscated.
Earlier, China executed four Canadians for drug-related crimes. Commenting on the execution of the death penalty, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that China treats defendants of all nationalities equally, handling them fairly and strictly in accordance with the law.
China has stringent drug laws. According to Article 347 of the Chinese Criminal Code, a person can be sentenced to death for the sale, production, or transportation of 50 grams of heroin or methamphetamine.
