China rejects reports of training Russian troops
China has dismissed reports that it is training Russian military personnel, calling the claims "pure slander" and lacking any factual basis, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning has stated.
She said regarding the so-called reports, which have caused concern on the German side, Chines has already made it clear that they have no factual basis, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“They are pure slander and defamation," Mao told a press briefing.
Germany's Foreign Ministry had earlier referred to the alleged training of Russian military personnel in China, prompting a recent meeting between diplomats from the two countries.
Mao confirmed that the Chinese Ambassador to Germany had recently met with German Foreign Ministry officials to discuss China-Germany relations and other issues of mutual interest.
She reiterated that Beijing has "always maintained a fair position on the Ukraine crisis" and remains committed to promoting a political settlement.
On Ukraine, Mao added, China "has consistently adhered to its own approach" and urged the German government to "objectively and rationally assess China's position."
