China’s Tianzhou-8 cargo spacecraft reenters Earth’s atmosphere
China's Tianzhou-8 cargo spacecraft has successfully re-entered Earth’s atmosphere in a controlled manner at 6:42 a.m. (Beijing Time) on July 9.
According to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), most of the spacecraft’s components were incinerated during re-entry, while a small portion of debris fell into the designated safe waters, Caliber.Az reports via Chinese media.
Tianzhou-8 was launched on November 15, 2024, from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in the southern island province of Hainan. The cargo ship was tasked with delivering essential supplies for astronauts aboard the Tiangong space station, as well as propellant and equipment for scientific applications and experiments.
On July 8, Tianzhou-8 separated from the Tiangong space station complex and began its independent flight phase before re-entering the atmosphere.
