China, US reach deal on key trade issues after Kuala Lumpur talks
Delegations from China and the United States have reached an agreement on measures to address pressing trade issues following two days of talks in Kuala Lumpur, Xinhua reported.
The meeting involved Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and US Trade Representative James Greer.
Both sides engaged in a frank and constructive exchange on matters of mutual interest, including the US Section 301 measures in China’s maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding sectors, the extension of the suspension of mutual tariffs, cooperation on tariffs and law enforcement related to fentanyl, agricultural trade, and export controls.
He Lifeng emphasised that stable trade and economic relations between China and the US serve the interests of both countries and meet the expectations of the international community. He called for dialogue based on mutual respect and equality, as well as the implementation of agreements reached at the leadership level.
The US side expressed its willingness to work with China in a spirit of respect and cooperation, noting that bilateral trade and economic relations are among the most influential in the world.
Both sides agreed to continue working through the economic and trade consultation mechanism to ensure the sustainable development of relations and contribute to global prosperity.
