Chinese leader to attend Victory Day in Russia, hold talks with Putin
Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay an official visit to Russia from May 7 to 10 at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin, during which he will participate in ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and hold bilateral talks with Putin.
During the talks, the two leaders will address key issues concerning the further development of the comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation between Russia and China, as well as pressing matters on the international and regional agenda, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The visit will also feature the signing of a series of intergovernmental and interagency agreements aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
"The president of the People’s Republic of China will be our main guest, and we will have the opportunity to discuss both the current state of our bilateral relations and our cooperation on international platforms," said the Russian president.
Around 20 world leaders are expected to attend the celebrations in Moscow marking the 80th anniversary of Victory Day. In addition to the heads of CIS countries, who traditionally attend the May 9 festivities, the presidents of Brazil and Burkina Faso are also expected, along with the leaders of Venezuela and Vietnam, the president of Serbia and the prime minister of Slovakia.
