Counterterrorism raid in Indonesia nets eight ISIS-linked individuals
Indonesia’s counterterrorism unit Densus 88 has detained eight suspected members of the extremist network Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), which is linked to the Islamic State group (ISIS), local police said.
Authorities said the arrests took place late Wednesday, on May 6, in the districts of Poso and Parigi Moutong, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
The suspects are accused of spreading radical propaganda online, including texts, images, and videos, and of possible involvement in other terrorist-related activities.
Densus 88 stated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to prevent radicalisation and strengthen national security, adding that the investigation is continuing.
The JAD group has previously been linked to a series of attacks in Indonesia, including bombings in 2018 and 2021, and has been officially banned in the country since 2018.
