Cypriot authorities call on Israel to de-escalate

Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, during a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, called on the Israeli authorities to de-escalate the conflict.

According to the President of Cyprus, it is necessary to avoid civilian casualties and begin a political dialogue, Gazeta.ru reports this.

Netanyahu thanked Christodoulides for visiting Israel, especially at a difficult time. The Israeli Prime Minister stressed the need for the civilized world to unite against Hamas.

“What we are doing today is part of our right to self-defence, we are doing it in full compliance with international humanitarian law, and that is why we have authorized the sending of humanitarian aid to Gaza,” Herzog said.
