Zelenskyy congratulates US president, first lady, Americans on Thanksgiving
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has extended his congratulations to U.S. President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and the entire American people on Thanksgiving Day.
Posting on X, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the ongoing support that has saved countless lives in Ukraine and helps the country defend its independence on a daily basis, per Caliber.Az.
“We deeply appreciate all the support, which has saved so many lives in Ukraine and helps us defend our independence each day,” the president wrote.
Zelenskyy also expressed hope for deeper cooperation between Kyiv and Washington.
“We are very glad that our relationship is constructive and look forward to further positive progress in diplomacy – to finally end for good Russia’s war against our people. We sincerely hope that dignified peace and guaranteed security will become our joint achievement,” he added.
Zelenskyy's post comes at a time of the Trump administration's push for a rapid resolution of the ongoing Russia's war in Ukraine.
The U.S. President Trump recently proposed a 28‑point framework aimed at ending the war. This peace plan represents a cornerstone of his administration's foreign policy since his January 2025 inauguration. Aimed at ending Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine—now in its fourth year—the framework emphasises rapid negotiations to freeze the conflict, provide security guarantees, and facilitate reconstruction, while reducing U.S. aid costs.
Initially drafted with significant Russian input, the plan faced backlash for favouring Moscow but underwent substantial revisions in late November 2025, narrowing to 19 points after U.S.-Ukraine talks. As of November 27, 2025, Ukraine has agreed to the "core terms," but finalisation awaits Russian feedback and a potential Zelenskyy-Trump summit, with optimism tempered by lingering disputes over territory and NATO.
