Lukashenko says Ukraine war nearing end, criticises European leaders
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said he believes the war in Ukraine is approaching its end, while cautioning that unexpected developments could still dramatically alter the situation.
Speaking on the sidelines of the CSTO summit in Bishkek, Lukashenko described the conflict as unpredictable, emphasising that unforeseen events could reverse the course of the war at any moment, Caliber.Az reports via Belta.
He criticised European leaders, suggesting that they are more focused on the procedural details of proposed peace plans for Ukraine than on achieving an actual resolution, and argued that Europe’s approach appears designed to delay the adoption of a settlement.
Lukashenko also questioned why European nations would seek to prolong the conflict, asserting that they are unlikely to achieve victory. He specifically referenced the role of the United Kingdom, suggesting that British actions in the war have been “inappropriate,” and expressed hope that European leaders would eventually reconsider their positions.
