The European Commission has confirmed that its official web platform, Europa.eu, was targeted in a cyberattack that may have led to the theft of internal data, according to a statement published by the institution.
The incident took place on March 24, prompting an immediate response from the Commission to contain the breach. EU institutions that could potentially have been affected by the incident have been formally notified.
Despite the breach, the Commission stressed that its internal systems were not compromised.
An investigation into the cyberattack is currently ongoing.
