31 July 2026 09:35
At least 34 people have been killed in a coal mine collapse in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, authorities said, as rescue teams continue efforts to locate those still trapped.
Geo TV reported on July 30, citing the regional disaster management authority, that the death toll had risen after additional bodies were recovered from the site.
“The death toll from the coal mine collapse in the district of <...> in Balochistan province has risen to 34 after rescue teams recovered six more bodies from under the rubble,” the report said.
The mine owner said a methane explosion may have triggered the collapse.
A total of 42 workers were underground at the time of the incident.
Rescue operations remain ongoing.
