Denmark warns of more serious Russian hybrid attacks

Denmark expects Russia to intensify its hybrid attacks over the coming months, according to a new threat assessment published by Danish intelligence agency FE on September 24.

FE assesses that in the coming months, Russia will carry out “more frequent attacks” against the West and NATO, “which will have more serious consequences for the affected countries than before.”

“This could, for example, include disruptive cyberattacks with serious consequences for critical infrastructure and sabotage attacks carrying a high risk of casualties,” the assessment states.

The FE document also notes that there is a “small but growing risk that Russia will launch a limited military attack against one or more NATO countries bordering Russia.”

Speaking at a press conference, Danish Defence Minister Jeppe Bruus said that “the situation is serious.” At the same time, he stressed that the assessment “does not concern military attacks on the Kingdom of Denmark.”
