Drone attack on kindergarten, hospital in Sudan kills 114, including 63 children
On December 4, a drone attack on the town of Kalogi in Sudan’s South Kordofan state killed 114 people, including 63 children, Le Figaro reports, citing the World Health Organization (WHO).
The strikes hit a kindergarten and a local hospital, as well as people attempting to rescue children. Thirty-five others were injured.
Local authorities said the attacks were carried out by paramilitary forces of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their allies from the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement–North. Survivors were taken to Abu Jebiha Hospital for treatment.
The Kordofan region has seen intense fighting in recent weeks following the capture of Darfur by paramilitary forces in October. The conflict, which began in April 2023, has killed tens of thousands and displaced 12 million residents.
Since the start of 2025, the WHO has recorded 63 attacks on medical facilities in Sudan, resulting in 1,611 deaths and 259 injuries.
