Drone attack sparks fire at chemical plant in Russia’s Krasnodar region
A fire broke out at a chemical plant in Russia’s Krasnodar region following a drone attack, prompting the evacuation of workers and emergency response efforts, local authorities confirmed.
According to regional officials, fragments of unmanned aerial vehicles fell near a large enterprise in the Belorechensky District, resulting in a fire that covered approximately 50 square metres, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
While the name of the facility was not disclosed by authorities, local residents and media reports identified the site as the EuroChem-Belorechensky Mineral Fertilisers plant, a major chemical production facility in the area.
“About 140 people — employees of the enterprise — were evacuated to a protective structure,” the Krasnodar Krai operational headquarters said in an official statement.
Traffic was temporarily blocked in the vicinity of the facility, and fire and emergency services were deployed to the scene. Officials reported that the fire was successfully extinguished and no casualties were recorded.
