Drone attack targets US base in Syria

Syrian forces have thwarted drone attacks launched from Iraq toward the Al-Tanf military base, according to Syrian military sources.

The exact origin of the attacks has not been specified, Al Jazeera reports.

The Iran-backed Islamic Resistance in Iraq has previously claimed responsibility for assaults on several military bases in the region. The group has also carried out attacks on multiple airbases and an airport in Jordan. 

The Al-Tanf base is located in southern Syria’s Homs province and is used by the United States and its regional allies.
