Drone slams into Kharkiv apartment block, injures resident Photo
A drone struck a residential high-rise in central Kharkiv overnight, injuring one person and causing damage across several districts, local officials said.
Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that the unmanned aerial vehicle crashed into the 12th floor of an apartment building in the Shevchenkivskyi district. The victim sustained shrapnel wounds to the chest, Caliber.Az reports.
According to Terekhov, the drone—identified as a “Shahed”—did not detonate on impact, limiting the scale of destruction.
“The debris from the ‘Shahed’ literally flew inside. Looking at these images, it’s hard to believe that it all ended without a tragedy,” Terekhov said, sharing photos from the scene.
Elsewhere in the city, UAV strikes hit vehicles in the Kholodnogorsk district, sparking a fire. Emergency crews responded to the scene, where two vehicles were destroyed and seven others damaged. No casualties were reported in that incident.
In the Saltivskyi district, debris from a Shahed-type drone was also discovered near a residential building following overnight shelling. Authorities said no injuries were reported, and emergency services are continuing their work at the site.
