Drone strike damages homes, port infrastructure in Ukraine’s Odesa region PHOTO

16 May 2026 12:14

A Russian drone attack damaged residential buildings and port infrastructure in Ukraine’s southern Odesa region overnight, injuring two people.

Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, wrote on Telegram that Russian forces carried out a “massive attack” on the region using strike drones, targeting areas in the south, Caliber.Az reports.

According to Kiper, a UAV struck a five-storey residential building, damaging its façade and windows and setting fire to balconies and a car shop on the ground floor. A separate single-storey home was also damaged, where two people were injured.

“Last night, the enemy launched a massive attack on the south of the Odesa region using strike drones. Residential and port infrastructure was damaged. Unfortunately, there are casualties,” Kiper said.

The attack also damaged port facilities, including a warehouse and an administrative building, with shattered windows reported at both sites. Debris from intercepted drones reportedly fell onto the grounds of an educational institution.

Emergency and municipal services were deployed to the scene, where they provided assistance to residents and continued work to address the aftermath of the strikes, officials said.
