Egyptian minister announces close cooperation with Azerbaijan ahead of COP29
Egypt's Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad has said that close cooperation was established with relevant structures of Azerbaijan, which will host the COP29 climate change conference.
"We will continue to exchange experiences with our Azerbaijani counterparts during the preparations for the conference," the minister told the national media, APA reports.
According to her, international cooperation in the field of climate has been marked by many achievements over the past five years, in this regard, the sessions of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change are of particular importance.
The minister added that the discussions to be held in Baku after Sharm el-Sheikh and Dubai will be the continuation of a new stage in addressing this global issue.
Fouad said that the COP29 conference in Baku will include discussions on the environmental studies of the Council of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden countries, to which Egypt attaches great importance.
Baku was chosen as the host city for COP29, marking a significant milestone in Azerbaijan's commitment to environmental stewardship and global climate action. This decision was made following rigorous deliberations by the international community, recognizing Baku's strategic position as a key player in advancing sustainability efforts on a global scale.
