Embassy in Norway warns of discrimination against Russian tourists
The Russian embassy in Norway has described the detention of four Russian citizens in the country as discrimination.
On October 17, a court in the province of Nordland in northern Norway issued a decision to arrest four Russian citizens on charges of photographing objects that are prohibited in the country, Gazeta.Ru reports.
"We have drawn the attention of the Norwegian authorities and the local media that we regard the measures against Russian citizens as discriminatory and groundless," the Russian diplomatic mission said in a statement.
In addition, the Russian embassy in Oslo, and the Consulates General in Kirkenes and Svalbard warned Russians planning a visit to Norway to be prepared for the "biased attitude of the authorities".
The Russian embassy added that citizens detained in Norway have been allocated a lawyer, and they are provided with the necessary consular assistance.
