Emirates reaffirms commitment to Ukraine peace efforts
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has pledged to continue its mediation efforts between Russia and Ukraine, following the successful facilitation of another large-scale prisoner exchange between the two countries.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the completion of a new exchange operation involving 185 prisoners from the Russian side and 185 from the Ukrainian side, underscoring Abu Dhabi’s ongoing role as a trusted intermediary in the conflict, Caliber.Az reports.

“The UAE announced the success of mediation efforts undertaken between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine in carrying out a new exchange operation, which included 185 prisoners from the Russian side and 185 prisoners from the Ukrainian side. This brings the total number of prisoners exchanged between the two countries through these mediation missions to 7,471,” the ministry said.
The ministry praised the cooperation demonstrated by both Moscow and Kyiv in supporting the UAE’s diplomatic efforts, noting that the two countries regard the Emirates as a reliable international mediator. It also expressed appreciation for the confidence placed in the UAE’s role in advancing initiatives aimed at easing the crisis.
According to the statement, the latest exchange marks the 24th mediation operation successfully conducted by the UAE since the outbreak of the conflict. The ministry attributed this achievement to the strong and distinctive relationships the Emirates maintains with both Russia and Ukraine.
Reaffirming its commitment to diplomacy, the UAE Foreign Ministry said it would continue to support initiatives aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the conflict and mitigating its humanitarian consequences, including those affecting refugees and prisoners of war.
