Envoy: Nakhchivan holds special place in Azerbaijan-Iran relations
The Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan has highlighted the strategic importance of Nakhchivan in the bilateral relationship between Baku and Tehran, noting that recent developments have opened fresh opportunities for cooperation.
Mojtaba Demirchilu told Report that Azerbaijan’s victory in the recent conflict and the liberation of previously occupied territories have created new potential for the two countries to strengthen ties.
“I recall how, during President Heydar Aliyev’s visit to Iran in 1992, very important agreements were reached. These laid the foundation for the active development of bilateral relations,” said Demirchilu.
The ambassador added that the current phase of relations between Azerbaijan and Iran offers broad prospects.
“The victory of Azerbaijan and the liberation of its territories have created new opportunities. We must make effective use of this potential to bring our peoples closer together and deepen cooperation between these two brotherly and friendly nations,” he said.
