Estimated reserves at Turkish Sakarya offshore gas field stand at 710 bcm
The volume of reserves of the Sakarya field in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea reaches 710 billion cubic meters (bcm). The estimates are based on the findings of one of the leading companies in this field, DeGolyer & MacNaughton, according to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye, Fatih Donmez.
Donmez said the work at the Sakarya field is currently underway with the participation of more than 50 vessels, Anadolu reports.
“The laying and testing of three subsea pipelines from the Black Sea field continue. The construction of the 170 km long main gas pipeline has been completed. Also, 85 per cent of the work on the construction of a compressor station finished,” Donmez said.
The minister explained that this compressor station at the first stage will supply 10 bcm of gas to the country's gas distribution system, and in the future, the figure will reach 40 bcm.
Donmez recalled that at the moment, 10 wells have been drilled at the Sakarya field, the number of which is planned to be increased to 40 by 2026.
