Estonian top diplomat calls for tougher measures against Moscow

24 January 2026 17:13

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna has insisted that Russia be held accountable for its recent extensive assault on Ukraine, emphasizing the imperative for sustained international pressure.

As Caliber.Az reports, in a statement posted on X, Tsahkna warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not altered his objectives, and that Moscow’s campaign continues to be characterized by “killings, destruction, and terror.”

“Ukraine has endured yet another night of Russian atrocities, adding to the hardship of an already brutal winter.

Putin has not altered his objectives. His campaign continues to be one of killing, destruction, and terror.

Our response must remain unwavering. We need to intensify pressure with stronger sanctions and tighter restrictions on Russia, while simultaneously ramping up support for Ukraine. Russia must pay,” Tsahkna noted.
