EU bans high-tech exports to Kyrgyzstan under Russia sanctions
The European Union has imposed a ban on the supply of certain high-tech equipment to Kyrgyzstan under its latest sanctions package targeting Russia, according to foreign media reports cited by Caliber.Az.
The measures are part of the EU’s 20th package of sanctions against Russia and mark the first time the bloc has applied its anti-circumvention instrument to a third country. Kyrgyzstan has thus become the first state subject to these specific restrictions aimed at preventing the обход of European trade limitations.
Under the new rules, exports to Kyrgyzstan of computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools, as well as radio communication equipment — including modems, routers, and radio stations — are prohibited.
EU officials said the restrictions were introduced due to concerns that such goods could be re-exported to Russia, thereby undermining existing sanctions.
