EU may restrict sale of LNG tankers to Russia, von der Leyen says
The European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (EC) has proposed restricting the sale of liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers to Russia and imposing sanctions on ports trading energy resources with the country.
She presented the draft of new sanctions, which are expected to be discussed by EU foreign ministers on June 15, Caliber.Az reports.
“And we propose targeting critical infrastructure, such as ports, airports, refineries trading or processing Russian oil. Finally, we propose restricting the sale of LNG tankers to Russia, just as we already did for oil tankers,” she said.
The draft package targets 31 Russian banks as well as 20 cryptocurrency firms, platforms and oil traders outside accused of helping Moscow evade restrictions.
