EU reiterates commitment to peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia in 2025
The European Union is committed to providing further support to Azerbaijan and Armenia in their efforts to achieve lasting peace in 2025.
Anitta Hipper, the EU’s Chief Representative for External Relations and Security Affairs, shared this message in an interview with Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports citing local news agencies.
Hipper highlighted the EU's continued active engagement with both Azerbaijan and Armenia, emphasizing the ongoing consultations aimed at normalizing relations and building on the positive developments in bilateral cooperation throughout 2024.
“We urge both sides to continue their dialogue and work towards mutually acceptable solutions that address their respective concerns. This was a message recently reiterated by EU Special Representative Magdalena Grono during her visits to Baku and Yerevan, where she met with the leadership of both countries,” Hipper said. She also noted that European Council President Antonio Costa reinforced this message during a phone call with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on January 9.
The EU official emphasized that Brussels supports all efforts to establish a lasting peace between Baku and Yerevan and applauds the progress made in the negotiations.
“We appreciate the positive progress between the two sides and are hopeful that 2025 will bring even more positive results, benefiting the entire region. The EU stands ready to provide additional support to both Azerbaijan and Armenia in their pursuit of peace,” Hipper concluded.
