Brussels to impose ban on re-exporting European goods to Russia

The European Union plans to include a ban on the re-export of European goods to Russia via third countries in its 19th package of anti-Russian sanctions, a report by Politico says.

The report reads that European diplomats do not expect the new package to introduce any major changes, “with the sole exception of a ban on re-exports through third countries.” 

The measure is intended to prevent European goods from being routed to Russia through countries permitted to import products from Europe.

Politico notes that the overall package is expected to focus on combating sanctions evasion, while also tightening restrictions on the energy and financial sectors.
