EU’s high rep rules out peacekeeping mission in Ukraine amid ongoing conflict
EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas has said that the EU is not considering the possibility of sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine.
“First, there has to be peace in order to send peacekeepers. And Russia doesn’t want peace. That is very clear. If you look at Lavrov’s [Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov] interview for Tucker Carlson, they haven’t stepped away from their goals. So, we can’t discuss that,” Kallas told journalists, upon her arrival for a meeting of EU foreign ministers, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The EU is considering the introduction of a new sanctions package targeting Russia. Kallas said that the primary focus of these sanctions will be the Russian navy, which is involved in transporting oil. Additionally, sanctions will be imposed on China and North Korea.
