Ex-Georgian president Saakashvili poised for another political comeback
Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has said he intends to return to Georgian politics.
"Despite my health condition, I am going to actively engage in Georgian politics in parallel with my participation [in politics] in Ukraine. We should not wait for Ukraine to win, idly, but rather bring it closer, including through our innovative and courageous actions," Saakashvili wrote on Facebook, TASS reported. In January, the politician said he had no plans to engage in politics at home and linked his political future only to Ukraine.
He also plans to take part in the trials in which he is accused and called on "all national, anti-Russian, European forces" to unite.
For his part, Zurab Chkhaidze, clinical director of the private Vivamed clinic in Tbilisi, where Saakashvili is undergoing treatment, said that the former president's condition has improved. "These days we can see that his health condition has improved. He is more active and he feels better," Chkhaidze said.
