Turkish leader travels to Italy for fourth Intergovernmental Summit
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan departed for Rome on April 29 to attend the 4th Intergovernmental Summit between Türkiye and Italy, at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The high-level summit aims to deepen bilateral cooperation across key sectors and tackle a range of pressing regional and global challenges. Leaders from both nations are expected to discuss political, economic, and security issues as well as explore new avenues of strategic partnership, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
Several bilateral agreements are anticipated to be signed during the summit, further strengthening the legal framework underpinning relations between Ankara and Rome. In addition, a joint business forum is scheduled, with participation from leading figures in both countries' business communities.
President Erdogan is joined on the visit by a senior delegation including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas, Youth and Sports Minister Osman Askin Bak, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, National Defence Minister Yasar Guler, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir, and Trade Minister Omer Bolat. Also part of the delegation are National Intelligence Organisation Director Ibrahim Kalin, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Chief Advisor on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Cagatay Kilic, and President of the Defence Industry Agency Haluk Gorgun.
