Ankara reaffirms unwavering support for Azerbaijan, says Turkish defence official
Türkiye has reiterated its steadfast support for Azerbaijan, affirming the enduring military and strategic partnership between the two allied nations.
Speaking at a weekly press briefing, Zeki Akturk, a spokesperson for the Turkish Ministry of National Defence, underscored Ankara’s ongoing commitment to standing by its allies, particularly Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
His remarks, reflect Türkiye’s broader regional defence policy rooted in mutual cooperation and solidarity.
“The Turkish Armed Forces have always supported brotherly, friendly, and allied countries,” Akturk stated. He went on to list several nations that fall within the scope of Türkiye’s defence cooperation, including Northern Cyprus, Libya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar, and most notably, Azerbaijan.
Turkish-Azerbaijani relations have been characterized by deep-rooted historical, cultural, and strategic ties, formalized through the Shusha Declaration, which elevated their cooperation to the level of a strategic alliance.
