Ex-US officer warns of Iran’s military resilience after Dimona strike
Retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel Daniel Davis has warned that Iran retains significant military capabilities following a reported strike on the Israeli city of Dimona, calling for a reassessment of the current strategy.
Writing on the social media platform X, Davis pointed to what he described as the continued vulnerability of missile defence systems and the need for a shift in approach.
“A terrifying impact in the Israeli city of Dimona. Yet again, it exposes the reality that Iran continues to be viable militarily and American and Israeli missile defences remain porous. We’re gonna have to do something different if we want this war to be over, because continuing to make statements about how we’ve ‘essentially won the war’ may play well for sound bites, but does nothing to protect Israeli citizens or American troops in the region,” he wrote.
The former officer also stressed the importance of diplomacy over escalation.
“It’s time to eat a little crow, and engage in some serious diplomacy. Ignoring these realities and trying to double down by using ground troops will only deepen our strategic failure,” Davis added.
