Finland extends border closure with Russia amid growing tensions
The Finnish government has announced that it will keep its border with Russia closed until further notice, a move that continues the country’s strict border control measures amid ongoing concerns.
The decision was confirmed and elaborated upon, Caliber.Az reports via a statement released on the Finnish government’s official website.
The government reaffirmed its position on maintaining the closure of border crossings on Finland’s eastern border. This comes after a key decision made on April 16, 2025, not to reopen the crossings at this time.
“The government has reaffirmed its intention to keep the border crossings on the eastern border closed. On April 16, 2025, the government decided to maintain the closure of border crossings and centralize the processing of asylum applications. This decision will remain in effect until further notice,” the statement reads.
