Fire breaks out at tyre recycling plant in northern Poland
A fire broke out on the evening of April 10 at a tyre recycling plant in Rozental, in Poland’s Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The Gdańsk Regional Headquarters of the Polish State Fire Service urged residents of Pelplin and surrounding areas to exercise caution, noting that preliminary tests detected substances in the air that could be harmful to health with prolonged exposure, Caliber.Az reports via Polish media.
The fire was reported at 16:45 local time. A tyre shredding machine and stored rubber materials caught fire, affecting an area of around 300 square metres.
No casualties were reported.
At the height of the response, 28 fire crews — around 110 firefighters — were deployed to extinguish the blaze. Some of the tyres were moved to a safe location, while firefighters continued to tackle remaining hotspots.
