FM Fidan to announce Türkiye’s readiness to mediate in Ukraine conflict
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan plans to declare his country’s readiness to assume a mediating role in diplomatic efforts toward a peaceful settlement in Ukraine during his visit to Finland on November 4–5.
According to a source in the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Fidan will visit Helsinki at the invitation of Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, Caliber.Az reports, citing TASS.
“The minister intends to announce Türkiye’s readiness to undertake a mediation mission in international efforts and diplomatic processes aimed at a just and lasting resolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine by peaceful means,” the source said.
Earlier, on November 1, Fidan announced that Türkiye had offered to host the fourth round of peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, potentially including a leaders’ summit in Istanbul.
The minister pointed to Ankara’s role in initiating the Istanbul peace process, which previously enabled direct dialogue and prisoner exchanges between the sides.
"As a country maintaining constructive dialogue with both sides, Türkiye successfully facilitated their return to the negotiating table through the Istanbul process," Fidan said.
He reaffirmed that dialogue and diplomacy will remain central to Turkish foreign policy.
